Community Engagement

We’ve protected children’s rights for over 30 years! Annually, our free legal advice empowers thousands of lives. Now, in celebration of UNCRC into Scots law, we are reinvigorating our commitment to engagement work with young people and communities across Scotland.

We are establishing a new Young People’s Advisory Group to ensure that they continue to lead on shaping the future of the Centre’s work and we are progressing co-productive work with the communities of Govanhill and Fife – seeking to address the barriers that too many face in accessing advice and justice.

In these difficult and increasingly complex cost of living times for children and families, there has been a rise in demand for the free and specialist advice provided by our qualified solicitors, and for training and education on child law in a fast-changing policy environment.

We are unique in advising on all aspects of child law across all ages of children and young people, and we fully expect there to be a further increase in this demand as children’s rights are implemented. In response, we are currently going through an exciting period of transition to maximise on reaching the children and young people who most need our help across Scotland’s communities.

Who better to lead on that work than our young people and communities! It is they who are best placed to help us achieve our vision for ‘All children growing up in Scotland to have their rights respected, protected and fulfilled.’

Our new engagement team will support and mentor our young emerging leaders, and be working alongside the communities of Govanhill and Fife to shape our future services.

We will be sharing regular updates on the work from a range of voices and perspectives.
