LOCUM FAMILY LAW SOLICITOR – immediate start

Hourly rate according to post-qualifying experience

The Scottish Child Law Centre is an independent charity working to promote  understanding of children’s rights and the law as it affects children and young people in Scotland.  We are looking for a fully qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic Child / Family Law Locum Solicitor, preferably with a minimum of 2 years’ practicing experience.  

Your role is to promote and further the rights of children and young people in Scotland, in particular by giving legal advice from a child centred perspective by phone and by email.

Our aim is to provide service users with comprehensive legal advice delivered by qualified solicitors in a way which can be easily understood. You will be sensitive to the nature of the queries we receive, treat service users as individuals and be friendly, approachable and professional with excellent knowledge of Child Law in Scotland.

Wanted! Volunteer experienced Family Law Solicitors

The Scottish Child Law Centre is a very small and underfunded charity and would very much value the input  and time of solicitors with family law experience. 

If you are in a position to volunteer, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   to arrange a meeting here at the Centre to discuss current projects and tasks which could benefit from your input, as well as your experience and availability.     

The main tasks which we require asssitance with are:

  • Dealing with service users' telephone queries
  • Dealing with service users' email queries (which can be done remotely from home)
  • Supervising law student research volunteers

We would happily accept any time you can give us and can be flexible about times.
