School Placements, Young People and Non-Legal Volunteers

The Scottish Child Law Centre runs a successful school placements, administration/non-legal volunteer programme with year round places.  Non-legal volunteers are usually people with office work experience or with non-law related skills which the Child Law Centre can benefit from (e.g. media, statistics, events management or DIY skills).    We also offer work experience placements for school pupils.

  • Administration volunteers generally attend the Centre for one three hour shift per week either in the morning or in the afternoon during normal office hours.
  • Other skills volunteers may follow a less formal pattern of volunteering according to their availability and the requirements of the Centre.
  • Work Experience Placements are usually for school pupils who want work experience and usually last for one week.
  • All volunteering places are unpaid voluntary positions and no expenses are paid.
  • Applications are accepted at any-time throughout the year
  • When an application form has been received the Centre will contact you to let you know whether we are in a position to offer you a work placement or volunteer opportunity at the times that you have requested 
  • Administration volunteer duties will consist mainly of general office work duties, reception duties, and organisation of and participation in fundraising events. 
  • Other skills volunteer duties will depend on the experience and skills of the individual.
  • Work Experience Placements duties will consist mainly of gerneral office, finance and reception duties.    Training, Suppport and Supervision will be provided.
